The IE Finance Open House is a day to showcase not only the finance programs at IE, what students can gain from doing a master in finance at IE, and how they can develop a career in finance but also a great experience for participants to experience how it feels like to be a finance student at IE through having networking events and a similation practice in the IE Trading Room, a unique facility that only IE offers.
The Open House is an open invitation for all students who want to discover what areas of finance they want to get into, develop their knowledge in finance, or learn how to build their careers in finance. Students can choose from a variety of activities, workshops, and classes to take part in, either to develop their interest or strengthen their knowledge.

FEBRUARY 2, 2018 (FRIDAY)
13:30 – 15:00 IE Campus Tour – located in the center of the vibrant city of Madrid, the IE campus is made up of some 25,000m2, distributed among 22 buildings located in a district of Madrid, known as the Barrio de Salamanca, situated in the heart of Madrid’s Financial district, a strategic location that is very well-communicated.
15:00 -16:00 Introduction to the IE Finance Programs and the varied Career Paths in finance they will open you up to.
16:00 – 18:00 Bloomberg Workshop by Professor Rafael Hurtado (at IE Trading Room). The IE Trading Room is the home to many classes of finance students which require to do analytical research on security pricing, brokerage, portfolio risk and performance analytics, and other analytics such as stocks, bonds, commodities, options and futures, and currencies.
Equipped with Bloomberg, FactSet, Thomson Reuters, Matlab, TTR & Zoologic and other technologies, this facility has one of the top collection of analytical tools for a university/business school´s investment lab in the world.
18:00 –19:00 Some minutes with our Director of Finance Talent & Careers
During the session, our Director Irina Zilbergleyt, a finance expert with a decade of experience in the private equity industry at such top employers as Merill Lynch and Allied Capital, will speak about how the IE’s Masters in Finance can help enhance your career opportunities in Finance and explain what the possible professional exits are within the sector. You will learn about different roles and functions within the industry, ranging from corporate finance, capital markets to private wealth management, and about the levels of career progression, as well as where our finance alumni are working after IE.
19:00 – 20:00: Alumni Spotlight
Our top finance alumni will share with you their IE experience and how IE helped them to land a top job in either an investment bank, a private equity firm or a hedge fund. Participants are encouraged to ask our alumni any questions relating to how to succeed in the admissions process or the job hunting process.
20:00 – 21:00: Cocktails & Networking
In today´s competitive business world, networking plays a crucial role that can lead you to a job offer, it is the single most powerful marketing tactic to accelerate and sustain success for any individual or organization. Do you know that 70% of job offers are usually hidden and you won´t know about them unless you network with the right people?

FEBRUARY 3, 2018 (SATURDAY)
9:00 – 11:00 Fintech Workshop: “Fundraising in Startups: the Path from Idea to Venture Capital A Rounds” by Professor Pablo Soler Bach.
Pablo Soler Bach is a consultant and advisor to corporations and start-ups, and a Business Angel investing in projects in different fields, such as Fintech, e-travel, online real estate, LegalTech, gamification or media. He is also a mentor in Fintech in the international accelerators Startup Bootcamp and Finnovista, and an Associate Professor of Finance and of Entrepreneurship at IE.
Pablo started his career in large corporations, participating in a number of international assignments both for General Electric and The Boston Consulting Group. The projects gave him a wide exposure to finance in a global corporate environment. After that period, he started his life as an entrepreneur and investor, joining and co-funding several projects in different sectors, mostly finance related.
