Biography

Maria J Nieto is currently associate to the Director General Banking Regulation at Bank of Spain. In the meantime, she focuses on issues relating to financial integration and crisis management in Europe. Previously, she has been working as a senior economist at the European Central Bank, as a Deputy Manager Director at the Council of Economic Advisors to the Spanish Prime Minister or as a consultant at the International Monetary Fund. She holds a PhD in Science from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and an MBA specialized in Finance from  The Anderson School of Management (UCLA). Among other activities, she is coauthor of several books on financial regulation and financial stability and an occasional lecturer at various  Universities and Business Schools.
