The Finance Master Class “Corporate Finance after the crises: Beyond Shareholder Value Maximization” took place in Shanghai on Sep 22nd with the participation of Juan Pedro Gomez, IE Professor from the Masters in Finance Faculty. The Master Class provided prospective candidates with a unique opportunity to obtain an IE classroom experience and interact with IE professor, alumni, and staff from Madrid as well as from China Office. About 20 prospective candidates attended this event, around 60% of whom was from the financial sector, and approximately 50% held managerial positions in various financial institutions in China.

As a financial economist, there is nothing Juan Pedro Gomez liked better than to engross himself with complex statistics.  The work of Prof Juan Pedro Gomez, instead of being based on assumptions which are purely drawn from numbers or abstract theories, is deeply rooted in human psyche. “I get totally absorbed when I look at the figures,” he said. “Particularly when I work with something that applies to human relationships. There’s always asymmetry of information – and that applies to human relationship of all orders.”  Prof Juan Pedro Gomez used the real-life example of the film Wall Street to help participants have a better understanding of the Master Class.
