The renowned CFA Global Investment Research was held for the first time in Spain for two days in March 2011. The CFA Institute Global Investment Research Challenge is the place where students have the opportunity to learn from leading industry experts and compete with peers from the world’s top finance programs. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. The challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for a real world competition. Participation in the challenge promotes best practices in equity research and company analysis, as students research, analyze, and report on a company as if they are practicing analysts.Â
Students of the Masters in Finance at IE Business School participate in this event every year. The CFA Equity Research Competition Projects can also be presented to the Academic Department as one of the options for the final exam for graduation (other options include Equity Research & IPO Valuation Projects, Valuation of a company owned by a private equity firm, Academic Research or a Microfinance case study).
IE´s Master in Finance students won 1st place in the CFA Global Investment Research Challenge in 2009, 2nd & 3rd place in 2008 and 1st place in 2007.
